SUMMARY: The Risk Management and Alternative Risk Solutions Program Manager reports to the Executive Director and Deputy General Counsel and is accountable for management of enterprise risk management, including both clinical and non-clinical risk management to meet the goals, mission and vision of Valley Children's Healthcare and its affiliated entities. In collaboration with the Corporate Compliance Officer, conducts an annual enterprise risk assessment. Assists in developing and implementing risk management and insurance programs that support Valley Children's Healthcare's business strategies, while cost-effectively reducing and managing risks through various risk controls and risk financing methods, administering the company's claims, and managing the company's captive insurance operations. Responsible for investigations into risk events and Root-Cause Analyses. Assists in all litigated matters, both administrative and civil suits. Works collaboratively with the Patient Safety and Quality Department in the prevention of patient harm, addressing patient grievances, implementation and management of Communication and Resolution Program, and performance improvement initiatives to achieve a reduction in Valley Children's Healthcare's overall liability.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: College Degree - 4 year in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Juris Doctor Degree preferred. RN - Reg Nurse other applicable clinical licensure required. Professional licensure or risk management certification preferred. Minimum five (5) years Healthcare risk management, healthcare law and/or medical malpractice experience required. Demonstrated progressive ability to complete statistical analysis and previous experience conducting analysis to identify behavior issues that could result in increased liability exposure, excellent communication and presentation skills. General knowledge of accreditation and professional standards within the healthcare industry. General understanding of risk management best practices and methods used to limit exposure liability and risk. Ability to facilitate and lead group meetings and develop and implement effective training programs. Demonstrated progressive computer skills.
